  • FRESHMAN GUIDANCE CURRICULUM
    The Leominster High School and Center for Technical Education Innovation Guidance Department will develop and deliver a comprehensive program that will help freshmen students with their transition into high school. Freshmen will focus on setting academic, personal and career goals. Guidance counselors will provide classroom based instruction and individual counseling that will allow students to feel supported and safe at school and understand their personal strengths and challenges.

    Delivery of School Counseling Services:

    The Leominster High School and the Center for Technical Education Innovation Guidance Program includes the following developmentally appropriate services for grade 9:

    • Grade 9 Guidance Orientation Classroom Activity.
    • Grade 9 Guidance Goal Setting Classroom Activity.
    • Grade 9 Guidance End of Year Follow-Up Activity.
    • Spring Open House & Fall Orientation for Incoming Freshmen
    • Individual Counseling.
    • Consultation with students, teachers and parents.
    • Academic monitoring and advising.
    • Outside referrals where appropriate.
    • CPT: Common Planning Time with Freshmen Teams to support struggling students.
    • SAT: Student Assistance Team to support at risk students.
    • TAT: Teacher Assistance Team for academic support and referral identification.
    • Schedule and Educational planning.
    • Regular communication with parents/guardians via email, phone, mail and websites.
    • Parent/Guardian meetings with freshman team and counselor.
  • SOPHOMORE GUIDANCE CURRICULUM
    The Leominster High School and Center for Technical Education Innovation Guidance Department will develop and deliver a comprehensive program that will assist sophomore students with resume building and career research and development. Sophomores will focus on career research through a variety of online programs with the support of guidance counselor instruction in the classroom. This career research will also indicate possible areas of study (i.e. majors) that students may choose to pursue. This will provide sophomores with the building blocks necessary to support future career and college research and decisions.


    Delivery of School Counseling Services:

    The Leominster High School and Center for Technical Education Innovation Guidance Curriculum includes the following developmentally appropriate services for grade 10:

    • Grade 10 career research through Naviance and MassCIS.
    • Resume building through Naviance.
    • Information regarding PSAT administration in October
    • Individual counseling.
    • Consultation with students, teachers and parents.
    • Academic monitoring and advising.
    • Outside referrals when appropriate.
    • SAT: Student Assistance Team to support at risk students.
    • TAT: Teacher Assistance Team for academic support and referral identification.
    • Schedule and Educational planning.
    • Regular communication with parents/guardians via email, phone, mail and websites.
    • Individual consultation for requesting junior year courses.
  • JUNIOR GUIDANCE CURRICULUM
    The Leominster High School and Center for Technical Education Innovation Guidance Department will develop and deliver a comprehensive program that will assist junior students with ongoing post-secondary planning. Guidance counselors will assist students with college research through individual and group instruction and through online programs. Other post-secondary options including vocational and technical schools, employment and military service will also be explored.

    The Leominster High School and Center for Technical Education Innovation Guidance Curriculum includes the following developmentally appropriate services for grade 11:

    • Grade 11 College Compare and research through Naviance.
    • Junior classroom visits with instruction on college application process.
    • Information regarding PSAT and SAT administration.
    • College and Vocation/Technical School Fair.
    • Junior Career Speaker Series.
    • Junior Parent Information Night.
    • Ongoing development of Post-Secondary Plan.
    • Individual counseling.
    • Consultation with students, teachers and parents.
    • Academic monitoring and advising.
    • Outside referrals when appropriate.
    • SAT: Student Assistance Team to support at risk students.
    • TAT: Teacher Assistance Team for academic support and referral identification.
    • Schedule and Educational planning.
    • Regular communication with parents/guardians via email, phone, mail and websites.
    • Individual consultation for requesting senior year courses.
  • SENIOR GUIDANCE CURRICULUM
    The Leominster High School and Center for Technical Education Innovation Guidance Department will develop and deliver a comprehensive program that will assist senior students with finalizing their Post-Secondary Plans. This curriculum and research will follow the completion of the junior curriculum with implementation of the components of the Post-Secondary Plans which have already been developed. These plans may involve college or vocation/technical school applications, employment applications, enlisting in branches of the armed forces, etc.

    Delivery of School Counseling Services:

    The Leominster High School and Center for Technical Education Innovation Guidance Curriculum includes the following developmentally appropriate services for grade 12:

    • Senior classroom visits with instructions on college application process.
    • Information regarding SAT administration.
    • College and Vocation/Technical School Fair.
    • MEFA Financial Aid Information Night.
    • FAFSA Help Nights.
    • Ongoing monitoring of grades and credits toward graduation.
    • Ongoing development of Post-Secondary Plans.
    • Individual counseling.
    • Consultation with students, teachers and parents.
    • Academic monitoring and advising.
    • Outside referrals when appropriate.
    • SAT: Student Assistance Team to support at risk students.
    • TAT: Teacher Assistance Team for academic support and referral identification.
    • Schedule and Educational planning.
    • Regular communication with parents/guardians via email, phone, mail and websites.
